How to Create a New Product

Overview

Creating a product adds an item—goods or a service—to your catalog with its pricing, tax rate, customer and brand, product group, and optional flags such as Passive, Consumable, or Competitor Product. Once created, the product is available for use in forms, tasks, and reporting. Filling in the classification fields accurately makes the product easy to find and analyze later.

Before You Start

You need access to the Products/Services page and permission to add products. Have the product’s name, code, tax rate, and price ready, and make sure the related main customer, brand, and product group already exist.

How to Create a New Product

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Products/Services
  1. Click the plus (+) icon in the top-right corner.
  1. Enter the product name and product code
  1. Select the appropriate tax rate from the list.
  1. Enter the product’s list price
  1. Select the appropriate Main Customer from the list.
  1. Choose the appropriate Main Customer Brand from the list.
  1. Specify the Product Group
  1. Add any additional product information in the remaining fields.  Product Groups follow a hierarchical structure, allowing you to organize products across different levels.
  1. Use the checkboxes to set Client Access restrictions, mark it Passive or Consumable, or identify it as a Competitor Product
  1. Click Save to create the product.
