How to Collect Data with Form Fields

Overview 

Forms collect data through fields, and FieldPie offers many field types so you can capture exactly what you need. In a single form you might use a barcode field, single-line text, a money field for prices, a selection field, a photo, and a signature. Choosing the right type for each piece of information makes the form easy to complete accurately in the field. 

Before You Start 

You need access to the Forms area and permission to edit forms. Decide which pieces of information the form should capture and the best field type for each before you add them. 

How to Collect Data with Form Fields

  1. From the left navigation menu, select Forms
  1. Click the Form icon in the upper-right corner. 
  1. Click the plus (+) icon for Custom Forms, or the pencil icon to edit an existing form. 
  1. Scroll to the bottom and click + Add Field
  1. Enter a field name and select a field type—for example set a field to Barcode for scanning. 
  1. Add a Product field as Single Line Text
  1. Add a Price field and choose Single Line Text
  1. Add an Is the Price Correct field and choose Selection
  1. Add a Shelf or Promo Price field and choose Money to capture currency values. 
  1. Add a Photo field and choose Photo
  2. Add a Signature field and choose Signature

Tips and Things to Know

  • Match the field type to the data: Money for prices, Photo for images, Signature for sign-off. 
  • Barcode fields speed up accurate product capture in the field. 
  • Selection fields keep answers consistent and easy to report on. 
  • Name fields clearly so field users know exactly what to enter.
