Overview
An administrator can reset or change any user’s password from the Users area without needing the user’s current password. This is what you use when someone forgets their password, when you set the first credentials for a brand-new account, or when you rotate a password for security. The change is made on the user’s own profile and takes effect the next moment they sign in, so the old password stops working immediately. Because you are setting the password directly, it is important to share the new one with the user through a secure channel rather than in plain sight.
Before You Start
You need access to the Users area and permission to edit user accounts. Know exactly which user you are updating, and have the new password ready. Remember that the change is immediate, so coordinate with the user if they are in the middle of using FieldPie.
How to Change a User’s Password
- In the left navigation menu of FieldPie, select Users. The list of users opens.
- Find the user you want to update and click the pencil (edit) icon to open that user’s profile.

- Open the three-dot menu on the profile to reach the user’s account settings.

- Enter the new password in the password field.
- Click Change to apply the new password and complete the update.
- Click Save to store the changes to the user’s details.
Tips and Things to Know
- You do not need the user’s old password to set a new one—administrator access is enough.
- Two clicks matter: Change applies the password and Save stores the profile. Skipping either leaves the password unchanged.
- Send the new password to the user securely, and encourage them to change it to something only they know.
- If the user is signed in when you change it, they will need the new password the next time they log in.
Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The new password takes effect immediately, so the user signs in with it the next time they open FieldPie. Share the new password with them securely.
Make sure you click Change to apply the password and then Save to store the profile. Leaving the profile without saving discards the change.
No. As an administrator you can set a new password directly, which is why this works even when the user has forgotten theirs.
