How to Assign a Main Customer to Users

Overview

A main customer in FieldPie represents a top-level account—often a brand or company—that your work is organized around. Linking a user to one or more main customers keeps that person focused on the accounts that matter to them and limits the customer data they see to what is relevant. This is especially useful when different team members serve different brands and you want to keep their views clean. You make the assignment on the user’s edit screen, and you can attach as many main customers as the person genuinely needs.

Before You Start

You need access to the Users area and permission to edit users. Make sure the main customers you want to assign already exist in FieldPie—if one is missing, add it first under Main Customer in Settings. Know which user you are updating and which accounts they should be responsible for.

How to Assign a Main Customer to Users

  1. In the left navigation menu of FieldPie, select Users
  1. Find the user and click the pencil (edit) icon to open the user edit screen.
  1. Open the customer list on the edit screen.
  1. Select the main customer you want to assign to this user.
  1. Confirm your selection.
  1. Click Save to assign the selected customers to the user.

Tips and Things to Know

  • Assign only the main customers a person actually works with—this keeps their data focused and reduces clutter.
  • You can assign several main customers to one user; add each one before you save.
  • If a main customer is missing from the list, it has not been created yet. Add it under Main Customer in Settings first.
  • Main customer assignment works together with store access rights to shape exactly what each user sees.
