Overview
Creating a user adds a new team member to your FieldPie account and gives them the access they need to start working in the field or the office. When you create a user you record their basic details—name and email—and assign them to necessary roles, which is what determines the screens and actions the user can reach once they sign in. The email address you enter becomes the user’s login, so it must be valid and unique. A newly created account is active immediately, which means you can hand over the sign-in details as soon as you save. Getting the role right at creation time saves you from having to adjust permissions later, so it is worth deciding in advance what the person needs to do.
Before You Start
You need access to the Users area and permission to add users. Have the person’s full name and a valid, unique email address ready before you begin, since the email is used for signing in. Decide which role fits the work they will do, and make sure that role already exists in your account; if it does not, create it first under Role Management in Settings.
How to Create a User
- In the left navigation menu of FieldPie, select Users. The list of existing users opens.
- Click Add User to start a new user record, then begin entering the user’s details.

- Enter the user’s name.
- Enter the user’s email address. This is the address the user will use to sign in, so make sure it is correct and not already in use.
- Open the Roles tab.
- Choose a role from the list of available roles. The role defines what the user is allowed to see and do in FieldPie.

- Click Save to create the user. An invitation link will be sended directly to the newly created user’s email
- You can either add users one by one or you can import them with an excel file.
Tips and Things to Know
- The email address doubles as the login, so a typo here will stop the user from signing in. Double-check it before you save.
- If several people will do the same job, defining the role once and reusing it keeps their permissions consistent.
- You can refine skills, teams, main customers, and store access on the same user later—creating the account first is enough to get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
At a minimum you need the user’s name, a valid and unique email address, and a role. The email is the login and the role controls what the user can do, so both are essential.
You assign roles on the Roles tab. Choose the role that matches the access the user needs; if your account uses several roles, select the ones that apply to that person.
The account is active as soon as you click Save. You can share the sign-in details right away, and the user logs in with the email address you entered.
Only roles that already exist appear in the list. Create the role first under Role Management in Settings, then return to the user and assign it.
